Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Lymphatic Drainage.

During a session you'll experience slow, rhythmic, gentle strokes focused on lymph nodes and flow. Sessions typically last 45–60 minutes; you'll remain comfortably draped. You may feel warmth, light pressure, and increased urine output as your body detoxifies.

Lymphatic Drainage is often beneficial post-surgery or injury, but we require a medical clearance for recent procedures or complications. Your therapist will adapt pressure and timing to your recovery stage to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Treatment frequency varies by condition: acute swelling may require multiple sessions weekly, while chronic concerns often need a series followed by maintenance visits. Your therapist will assess progress and create a personalized plan to meet your goals.

The technique is very gentle and usually not painful. You might feel subtle pulling, tingling, or temporary fatigue as lymph shifts. If you experience discomfort, tell your therapist so pressure and technique can be adjusted immediately.

Contraindications include acute infection, untreated blood clots, congestive heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension, and certain cancers without physician approval. Pregnancy, recent surgery, and medications require disclosure so we can modify or defer treatment safely.

Come well-hydrated, wear loose clothing, and avoid heavy meals beforehand. Bring relevant medical records or surgeon clearance if applicable. Afterward, drink plenty of water, rest, and follow any compression or movement guidelines provided by your therapist.
